چکیده

Hierarchical radiosity provides a good model for the lighting of static scenes. But when an object moves, this model requires an update of all the lighting. In fact, thanks to space-time coherence, we just have to compute some of the geometry parameters (form factors). The problem is to determine which part of the hierarchy of links must change or not. A shaft is a practical mean to represent the interactions of light between two objects. A hierarchy of shaft describes all the interactions in a 3D scene. So the intersection of the moving object and the hierarchy of shafts directly gives the part of the hierarchy that are concerned by the displacement. The time needed to compute the new required form factors is somehow proportional to the total number of shafts of the hierarchy. Therefore, in order to decrease this computation time, we present a method based on the Oriented Bounding Box of the objects and compare it to a more standard Axis Aligned Bounding Box approach.

Eecient Radiosity in Dynamic Environments

A method of determining radiosity in an environment containing moving objects, is described. This method uses the hierarchical techniques of Hanrahan et al. to obtain a static solution. Hanrahan's techniques e ciently create a hierarchical meshing of the environments geometry, and create links from element to element based on the magnitude of the form-factor between the elements. These ideas ex...

Dynamic analysis of three-cylinder engine with balancing shaft

Three-cylinder linear engines are designed to minimize, reduce fuel consumption and pollution. The disadvantages of this type of engine, heavy vibration inherent in them. this study aims to balance Three-cylinder linear engines with a balancing shaft. First, the dynamic analysis of these types of engines identifies unbalanced sources. The results of the dynamic analysis showed that the inertial...

Parallel Hierarchical Radiosity: The PIT Approach

Radiosity is a method to compute the global illumination of a scene characterized by high computational requirements. To reduce this complexity, hierarchical radiosity decomposes the scene into a hierarchy of patches and computes the light exchange at different levels, according to the distance between patches and/or to the amount of light emitted by the patches. A distributed memory implementa...

Occlusion Evaluation in Hierarchical Radiosity

In any hierarchical radiosity method, the most expensive part is the evaluation of the visibility. Many methods use sampling and ray casting to determine this term. Space partitioning considerably speeds up the computation process. Partitioning with shafts, leads to a quite precise subdivision of 3D space, as far as interactions between pair of objects are concerned. The use of bounding boxes a...

Dynamic Subdivision in Radiosity

This paper presents a fast radiosity algorithm for illuminating scenes containing large piecewise polygonal surfaces. Dynamic Subdivision is based on the well known Adaptive Subdivision, introduced by M.Cohen et al. [3]. During the illumination process, patches in areas with high intensity gradients are re ned. Contrary to Adaptive Subdivision, the presented algorithm subdivides patches not in ...
